Start time of Kaua‘i students’ free Kid Pan Alley concert rescheduled

Kaua‘i schoolchildren will debut original music at the Historic Waimea Theater on Jan. 31. The free concert will cap off the students’ participation in the Kid Pan Alley songwriting program.

But the concert’s start time has been rescheduled. It will now begin at 10 a.m.

Folk musician Paul Reisler founded the nonprofit Kid Pan Alley after a 1999 songwriting residency at a school district in rural Virginia. Since then, Reisler has led songwriting classes throughout the US, resulting in nearly 3,000 original songs written and performed with more than 65,000 schoolchildren.

Kid Pan Alley has also recorded multiple albums with major recording artists, including the 2006 album “Kid Pan Alley: Nashville,” which earned a Grammy Award nomination.
