Update: Closures extended through portion of next week for ʻŌpaekaʻa Road in Kapa‘a
Update at 4:32 p.m. Jan. 16: Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works and contractor The Cutting-Edge Land Clearing Solutions notify the public that one-lane closures and intermittent road closures along portions of ʻŌpaekaʻa Road, between Pu‘upilo Road and Makana Road, have been extended from Jan. 21-24 because of inclement weather.
The closures are so crews can perform tree trimming and removal along the roadway. All work is weather permitting.
Original post from 10 a.m. Jan. 14: One-lane closures and intermittent road closures are scheduled for 2 days this week along portions of ʻŌpaekaʻa Road in Kapaʻa so crews with contractor The Cutting-Edge Land Clearing Solutions can trim and remove trees growing along the roadway.
One-lane closures are planned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with intermittent 15- to 30-minute full road closures throughout the work day, between Pu‘upilo Road and Makana Road.
All work is weather permitting.
Motorists should make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary closures, use alternate routes and allow extra time to get to their destinations.
No parking will be allowed in the work zones. Flaggers will be directing traffic.
