Kaua‘i weekly lane closures: Dec. 28 to Jan. 3

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced weekly lane closures for Dec. 28 to Jan. 3

A Holiday Lane Closure Restriction remains in place through Jan. 5. Only closures with demonstrated need (e.g., necessary for safety or to avoid lengthy construction delays) have been approved and are on this list.

There will be no lane closures or Kūhiō Highway southbound contraflow on New Year’s Day. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. A map of lane closures can be found here.

— KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

KEKAHA (24/7 CLOSURE)

Right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) possible in either direction between mile post 24.37 to 24.46, in the vicinity of Kikiaola Boat Harbor, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for replacement of culverts. Details can be found here.

— KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

LĪHUE TO KAPAIA

Single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kuene Street and Laukini Road, on Dec. 30 through Jan. 3, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no work on Jan. 1, for slope stabilization. Alternating traffic through the open lane.

LĪHU‘E TO KAPAIA

Single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, in the vicinity of Kuene Street and Laukini Road, on Sunday through Jan. 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with no work on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, for slope stabilization. Alternating traffic through the open lane.

ANAHOLA TO MOLOA‘A

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 15 to 18 in the vicinity of Aliomanu Road, on Dec. 30 through Jan. 3, except on Jan. 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction, between mile post 0 to 2 in the vicinity of Emmalani Road, on Jan. 2 and Jan. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

— KUAMO‘O ROAD (ROUTE 580) —

WAILUA HOMESTEADS (NIGHT WORK)

Right lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) possible in either direction, between mile post 1 to 2, in the vicinity of Kahawai Place, on Dec. 30, from 2 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. for grass cutting.

— MA‘ALO ROAD (ROUTE 583) —

KAPAIA (WEEKEND WORK)

Right lane closure on Ma‘alo Road (Route 583) possible in either direction, between mile post 3 to 3.5, on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for grass cutting, tree trimming and ditch cleaning.
