Kaua‘i firefighters extinguished a structure fire that broke out early Friday morning at a home on Kalihiwai Valley Road in Kalihiwai.

Firefighters were dispatched at about 4:40 a.m. to reports of a possible shed on fire and upon their arrival discovered a dwelling unit separate from the main home fully engulfed in flames.

First responders quickly gained control of the blaze using tank water, and then used a nearby stream to set up a pump to fully extinguish the blaze.
