East-facing shores under high surf advisory through Saturday evening
The National Weather Service forecast office in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory through 6 p.m. Saturday for east-facing shores of Kauaʻi.
A moderate to large, medium period north-northeast swell is expected to produce advisory level surf along eastern shorelines of all Hawaiian islands through Saturday, with the swell and subsequent surf peaking early Friday and slowly declining through the weekend.
Large, breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet are forecast in the advisory areas, increasing to 8 to 12 feet Friday.
Impacts from the high surf are expected to be moderate, including strong, breaking waves and strong currents that will make swimming dangerous.
The public is advised to heed all advice from ocean safety officials — when in doubt, don’t go out.
