Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau officials advise people not to swim or do other ocean activities at Brennecke’s Beach until further notice due to a shark sighting.

A 10- to 15-foot tiger shark was reported Saturday afternoon in waters off Brennecke’s Beach in Po‘ipū. No injuries were reported.

As a safety precaution, ocean safety officials have posted warning signs and will continue to monitor the area.

Lifeguards will reassess the area on Sunday. If there are no other sightings, Brennecke’s Beach will reopen to ocean activities at noon on Tuesday. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
