Party on the block this weekend in Līhuʻe to celebrate the heart of Kauaʻi
Rice Street in Līhuʻe will once again be transformed into a hub of local flavors, live performances, artisanal crafts and amazing arts this weekend to celebrate the heart of Kauaʻi, it’s local businesses and residents.
The entire Garden Isle is invited from 4 to 8 p.m. today to the lively and family friendly Rice Street Block Party.
Immerse yourself in the spirit of aloha and diverse Kauaʻi community while making memories that will last a lifetime at this event that showcases the cultural richness of the islands with more than enough activities and fun that there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
The block party will feature various entertainment along Rice Street, including a keiki zone with a dedicated area for Play Streets Kaua‘i, live music performing on three stages, 50-plus local vendors, food trucks, local artists and more.
A kickball and pickleball tournament at Līhu‘e County Park kicks off the festivities at 8 a.m. at Kalena Park. It also will raise funds for Maui wildfire victims.
Registration for the tournament is closed, but email the Rice Street Business Association at kauairsba@gmail.com if you’d like to donate to help fire victims.
Block party parking will be available at the Līhu‘e Civic Center, Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall and in the parking lot at Wilcox Elementary School.
Kaua‘i County recently alerted the public that Rice Street, between Umi Street and Kalena Street, will be closed from 2 to 10 p.m. today to accommodate the festivities.
Kress Street will also be closed between Rice Street and Halenani Street.
Umi, Hardy and Kalena streets, however, will remain open.
The public should also note that the Highway 70 Līhu‘e Shuttle will not serve stops along Rice Street during the road closures.
Riders can instead use bus stops on Eiwa Street.
So come one, come all, to one of Kaua‘i’s greatest and biggest events of the year. It will definitely be a party on the block with friends, family and neighbors to remember.
