The Kaua‘i County Elections Division is urging voters who had PO Boxes at the now shuttered Keālia Post Office and used them as their primary addresses to reregister to vote with a new mailing address to ensure they receive their ballot for the upcoming Nov. 5 general election.
Voters can reregister with the following options:
- Those with a valid Hawai‘i driver’s license can use the Hawai‘i online voter registration system.
- Paper Hawai‘i voter registration applications can be downloaded and printed here.
- Complete an application at the Elections Division offices located at 4386 Rice St. in Līhu‘e.
The Keālia Post Office closed earlier this week.
Unlike regular mail, the U.S. Postal Service can only deliver a ballot packet to the address on the packet. It cannot be forwarded to another address even if a voter filed a forwarding order.
The restriction is aimed at validating voter mailing addresses and maintaining overall integrity of voter files.
