Update: Closure and maintenance rescheduled for part of Ke Ala Hele Makālae trail in Kapa‘a

Update at 10:42 a.m. Oct. 4: Kaua‘i County shared on its Facebook page that the Department of Parks and Recreation rescheduled maintenance work and a resulting closure for a portion of Ke Ala Hele Makālae trail initially scheduled today.

The work and closure for the portion of trail from Keālia Beach Park to Kuna Bay are now scheduled from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 9.

Original post at 10 a.m. Oct. 2: Portions of Ke Ala Hele Makālae trail in Kapa‘a will be closed this week to allow Kaua‘i County crews to perform extensive maintenance.

The closure starts on Thursday and continues into Friday.

Crews from the Kaua‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation and Department of Public Works will work at the following times, days and locations:

  • 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday from the former Otsuka’s building to Keālia River Bridge.
  • 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday from Keālia Beach Park to Kuna Bay.
