Lane and road closures extended for Pu‘uwai, Po‘ohiwi roads in Kalāheo
Intermittent lane and road closures on Pu‘uwai Road and Po‘ohiwi Road in Kalāheo were extended through Oct. 31 to accommodate excavation and waterline work as part of the Kalāheo Water Systems Improvements Project.
The public is advised to adhere to flaggers and posted signs in the following areas and notified of the following closures and notices.
- Lane closures on Pu‘uwai Road: Partial lane closures will be in place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on Pu‘uwai Road, between the intersection of Po‘ohiwi Road and the intersection of Kikala Road, and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the north end of Pu‘uwai Road near Pu‘ulima Road. Additionally, intermittent lane closures will be implemented along Pu‘uwai Road as work progresses through the area.
- Road closure on a portion of Pu‘uwai Road: Implemented 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the portion of Pu‘uwai Road that is unpaved without residential or commercial dwellings, beginning at the intersection of Pu‘ulima Road and extending to the end of Pu‘uwai Road. No vehicle or pedestrian access or parking will be allowed in the work zone. Road closure signs and barriers are posted.
- Local traffic only on Po‘ohiwi Road: Because of the narrow roadway, access will be granted to local traffic only on Po’ohiwi Road from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Additionally, the following road work schedule is in place for Po’ohiwi Road and will continue until work is completed, weather permitting.
Po’ohiwi Road access schedule:
- Closed: 8-8:50 a.m. Open: 8:50-9 a.m.
- Closed: 9-9:50 a.m. Open: 9:50-10 a.m.
- Closed: 10-10:50 a.m. Open: 10:50-11 a.m.
- Closed: 11-11:50 a.m. Open: 11:50a.m.-12:30 p.m.
- Closed: 12:30-1:20 p.m. Open: 1:20-1:30 p.m.
- Closed: 1:30-2:20 p.m. Open: 2:20-2:30 p.m.
- Closed: 2:30-3:20 p.m. Open: 3:20 p.m. until next business day.
The closures and schedules might be extended because of weather and as project needs and schedule updates arise.
