Reminder: Public forums for finalists seeking to be next UH president start this week
The public’s opportunities to meet the two finalists vying to be the next president of the 10-campus University of Hawaiʻi system begin today, including an open house and moderated campus public forum at Kauaʻi Community College.
Wendy Hensel is up first this week followed by finalist Julian Vasquez Heilig next week.
Hensel will meet the public today at these times and places:
- 2 to 3 p.m.: Open house, Kauaʻi Community College, Fine Arts Auditorium.
- 3 to 4 p.m.: Campus forum (Zoom available and recorded), Kauaʻi Community College, Fine Arts Auditorium.
The format will be the same for both finalists, with each taking questions during the public forums. The forums will also be livestreamed and on Zoom as well as posted online afterward.
Questions can be submitted on site or by using the Zoom chat function.
The UH Board of Regents is asking the public to provide feedback on each of the finalists.
Confidential feedback about Hensel can can be provided through an online survey form that will be open until 6 p.m. Friday.

The public events for Vasquez Heilig on Kaua’i are scheduled for:
