Kaua‘i Weekly Lane Closures: Aug. 29-Sept. 4

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced weekly lane closures for Aug. 29 to Sept. 4. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

LĪHU‘E

Single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in both directions between mile markers 0 and 4.1, Rice Street and Pu‘uana Road, on Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for tree trimming work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

‘ELE‘ELE

Shoulder closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in the eastbound direction between mile markers 15.9 and 16.6, Iona Road and Eleele Road, on Tuesday, September 1, through Wednesday, September 2, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for shoulder paving.

WAIMEA

Single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in the westbound direction between mile markers 22.8 and 23.2, Ola Road and Huakai Road, on Tuesday, September 1, through Thursday, September 3, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., for sewer work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KAPA‘A (24-HOUR WORK)

Shoulder closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 6 and 6.3, Kuamo‘o Road and Haleilio Road, on Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4, 24-hours a day, for archaeological and cultural data recovery.

Traffic on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) near mile marker 10 is shifted to the temporary Kapa‘a Stream Bridge 24-hours a day, seven days a week until further notice. For safety during the shift to the temporary bridge, right turns off Kuhio Highway onto Mailihuna Road are not permitted. Access to Kapahi is recommended via the Kawaihau Road or Hauala Road detours.

ANAHOLA (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 15.5 and 16.7, Papa‘a Road and Kahiliholo Road, on Sunday evening, August 30, through Friday morning, September 4, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., for installation of rumble strip and striping work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.

KĪLAUEA (NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kuhio Highway (Route 56) in both directions between mile markers 21.5 and 24.5, Wailapa Road and Ko‘olau Road, on Sunday evening, August 30, through Friday morning, September 4, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., for paving work. Alternating traffic will be routed through the open lane.
