The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for west- and north-facing shores of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau through 6 p.m. Monday.

A northwest swell is expected to reach the islands late this afternoon, boosting surf heights along exposed shores to just above high surf advisory threshold for those shores.

Surf is projected to build to 10 to 15 feet late Sunday afternoon, then 12 to 16 feet Sunday night.

The National Weather Service described the surf’s impact as moderate.
