Kaua‘i weekly lane closures: March 23-29

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation has announced lane closures for March 23-29. Schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

In observance of Prince Kūhiō Day and Good Friday there will be no Kūhiō Highway contraflow on March 26 and March 29.

KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY

PUHI TO KĪPŪ (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway possible in either direction, between mile post 2.1 and 2.7, beginning March 24 through March 29, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for excavation of existing asphalt, installation of base material and asphalt paving. Travel in both directions will be maintained through alternating traffic control (contraflow).

Single lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway possible in either direction, between mile post 10.7 and 11, in the vicinity of Kuli Road and Lauoho Road, beginning March 24 through March 29, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for shoulder work and paving. Travel in both directions will be maintained through alternating traffic control (contraflow). Use of alternate routes is recommended.

KALĀHEO TO ‘ELE‘ELE

Right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway possible in either direction, between mile post 12.2 and 13, in the vicinity of Halewili Road, on March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for shoulder grading.

KALĀHEO TO ‘ELE‘ELE

Right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway possible in either direction, between mile post 12.25 and 15.67, in the vicinity of Halewili Road, on March 25, March 27 and March 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for guardrail clearing.

KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY

LĪHU‘E TO KEĀLIA

Roving right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction, between Rice Street and Mailihuna Road, on March 25, March 27 and March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for street sweeping.

WAILUĀ (NIGHT WORK)

Two lane closure on Kūhiō Highway northbound between Kuamo‘o Road and Kapa‘a Bypass Road on March 27 through March 29 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for cold planing and paving.

WAILUĀ (NIGHT WORK)

Full closure of the mauka Wailuā Bridge on southbound Kūhiō Highway between Leho Drive and Kuamo‘o Road, from 9 p.m. March 25 through 5 a.m. March 26 for KIUC to perform the powerline work for the Wailuā Bridge repair project. Traffic will be directed to the Wailuā Plantation Bridge.

KEĀLIA TO ANAHOLA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction, between Mailihuna Road and Aliomanu Road, on March 24 through March 29, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for cold planing and paving.

MOLOA‘A TO KĪLAUEA

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction, between mile post 17 to 21, in the vicinity of Waiakalua Streeet on March 25, March 27 and March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

PRINCEVILLE TO HANALEI

Single lane closure on Kūhiō Highway possible in either direction between Hanalei Plantation Road and Ohiki Road, from March 25 through March 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for debris removal and hauling of slope material. Traffic will be alternated through the open lane.

HALEWILI ROAD

KALĀHEO TO ‘ELE‘ELE

Right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway possible in either direction, between mile post 0 and 3.8, in the vicinity of Kaumuali‘i Highway, on March 27 and March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for shoulder grading.

KUAMO‘O ROAD

WAILUĀ

Right lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road possible in either direction between mile post 0.5 and 4, in the vicinity of Hawaiiana Street, on March 25, March 27 and March 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

WAILUĀ (24/7 CLOSURE)

Single lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road in the vicinity of the ʻŌpaekaʻa Falls lookout, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until further notice for slope stabilization.
