Kaua‘i County Reminds Residents to Fill Out Census Survey
Kaua‘i County is reminding residents that the 2020 Census survey is available to fill out online at www.my2020census.gov or via phone at 844-330-3030.
“We are reminding residents to please fill out the census form,” said Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami. “If our population is undercounted, it will impede our ability to access federal funds and other federal assistance programs. That means millions of dollars in lost revenue for us.”
For those yet to fill out the survey, Census takers are on island to assist residents.
These Census takers are visiting between the hours of 9 a.m. to roughly 7 p.m. and are required to wear face coverings and maintain 6-feet of social distancing. Additionally, Census takers will have an “Official Business” notice placed on their vehicles and carry smart phones to record information.
All Census takers complete a virtual COVID-19 training on social distancing and other health and safety protocols before beginning their work in neighborhoods.
Census takers are hired from your area, and their goal is to help you and everyone in your home be counted in the 2020 Census.
If the Census taker who visits your home does not speak your language, you may request a return visit from a census taker who does speak your language. Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean, Portuguese, Tagalog, Russian, Arabic, Polish, French, Haitian Creole and Spanish languages are also available.
