The County of Kaua‘i Agency on Elderly Affairs’ new program will start next week.

It’s called Caregivers’ Corner, and it aims to help caregivers and their loved ones.

Caregivers’ Corner is an in-person program that offers one-on-one guidance on all aspects of caregiving and self-care. Caregivers can schedule 30-minute appointments held at the Agency on Elderly Affairs in Līhu‘e on Tuesday mornings starting Dec. 5. Telephone appointments will also be available for those who are unable to leave their loved one.

This program will be facilitated by Dr. Dennis Pezzato, a behavioral specialist who is a member of the Elderly Affairs Advisory Council. Dr. Pezzato is also a caregiver consultant and educator, a dementia educator, a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association, a cancer counselor, and a Hospice volunteer. He is the author of two booklets recently published by the Agency on Elderly Affairs called “Caregivers Guide” and “Dealing with Death and Illness: A Guide.” These booklets are free and available to the public.
