The county will be conducting manhole inspections on the Līhu‘e sewer collection system for approximately four weeks, officials announced Wednesday morning.
The Department of Public Works, Wastewater Management Division’s contractor will perform the inspections from the end of July to the middle of August. It is anticipated that the contractor will be at a manhole between one and four hours.
The inspections will be performed on the following roads: Fujii Street, Inouye Street, Hiraoka Street, Jerves Street, Oxford Street, Poinciana Street, Kali Road, Ehiku Street, Elima Street, Eono Street, Eha Street, Ekolu Street, Hinahina Street, Ainakea Street, Noi Road and Kanakolu Street. The inspections will be performed during the daytime, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Additionally, the Public Works Department, Wastewater Management Division’s contractor will perform closed-circuit television inspections on the sewer collection system along Hardy, Umi and Rice Streets. These inspections will assess the condition of the sewer lines and manholes in the area.
The inspections will occur daily, from the evening of July 24 through the morning of Aug. 1. Traffic may be modified from 6:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. The inspections consist of using a camera to inspect the sewer lines.
Traffic control, using flaggers, will be implemented in the work areas for both projects. Motorists should drive with caution, expect delays, and adjust their travel times as needed.
