Original post: The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory through Tuesday evening for south-facing shores of Kauaʻi and Niʻihau.
Reinforcing long-period south-southeast swell of 170 degrees will peak later Monday and hold through Monday night before briefly diminishing late Tuesday.
The forecast is for surf of 7 to 10 feet.
Shore breaks and dangerous currents could cause injury or death.
Due to the high surf advisory, please be advised:
- Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
- Beach-goers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
