An emergency single-lane closure on Kūhiō Highway is scheduled for Tuesday morning.

The closure will be in the northbound direction between the southern point of Wailua Plantation Bridge and Kuamoʻo Road, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for emergency deck inspections, according to Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation.

The closure will alternate between the northbound mauka and makai lanes of the Wailua Plantation Bridge. Traffic will contraflow through the open northbound lane, depending on the area of work.

The emergency single lane closure is needed to inspect the deck of the bridge following a finding during routine operations. The deck has been temporarily shored and there are no speed limit or weight reductions for Wailua Plantation Bridge at this time.

The state agency will update the community on the findings of the inspection. Motorists are advised to expect delays and proceed with caution through the work area.

All roadwork is weather permitting.
