The woman who was discovered unresponsive in Kalalau Valley Stream last month has been identified as 32-year-old Amber Phillips of Kalihiwai.

Kaua‘i police and Kaua‘i firefighters responded to a report around 3 p.m. on June 26 of an unresponsive woman in Kalalau Valley Stream waters on the Nāpali Coast.

While surveying the area, Rescue 3 personnel aboard Air 1, along with personnel from the Kaua‘i Police Department, located the unresponsive woman about 40 to 50 yards from the shore.

An autopsy was conducted and it was concluded that there were no signs of foul play and that the preliminary cause of death was drowning with contributory injuries consistent with falling.
