On Wednesday morning, the Kaua‘i Police Department closed a northbound lane of Kūhiō Highway due to a cement spill.

According to a preliminary report, a truck belonging to Kaua‘i Concrete spilled cement along the outer northbound lane of Kūhiō Highway from mile marker 3.5 to 4 shortly after 6:30 a.m. The vehicle, operated by a 62-year-old male, was later located by KPD, the Department reported Thursday. The driver was cited for Spilling Loads on Highways.

Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel from the Kapa‘a fire station with Truck 2 and Engine 2, Hawai‘i Department of Transportation, Kaua‘i Concrete, and private contractors providing equipment removed the concrete from the roadway.
