Flash flood watch issued for Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau

A flash flood watch is in effect starting at noon till Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms will increase in coverage this afternoon through tonight over Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau. Periods of heavy rainfall are possible over leeward and windward communities of O‘ahu and Kaua‘i through Wednesday afternoon.

Flood prone roads and other low-lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.
