Hawai‘i Department of Transportation releases weekly lane closures

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announces weekly lane closures for Feb. 18-24. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

The Kūhiō Highway southbound contraflow will not operate on Monday, Feb. 20, in observance of the Presidents’ Day Holiday.

— KAUMUALI‘I HIGHWAY (ROUTE 50) —

LĪHU‘E

Single right lane closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in either direction between mile points 0 and 0.1, vicinity of Rice Street, starting nightly at 10 p.m. and ending at 5 a.m. the following morning. First lane closure for permitted utility work will begin Monday, Feb. 20 and last nightly closure for the week will end at 5 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

Single right closure on Kaumuali‘i Highway (Route 50) in the eastbound direction between mile marker 8 to 10, between Tree Tunnel and Koloa Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for grass trimming and guardrail clearing.

— KŪHIŌ HIGHWAY (ROUTES 56/560) —

LĪHU‘E (NIGHT WORK)

Single right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile points 0.2 and 0.6, Kali Road to Eha Street, starting nightly at 10 p.m. and ending at 5 a.m. the following morning. First lane closure for permitted utility work will begin Monday, Feb. 20 and last nightly closure for the week will end at 5 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24.

WAILUA (24/7 CONDITION)

Right shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.7, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a Bypass, for the Kūhiō Highway Short-Term Improvements.

WAILUA

Single right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in the northbound direction between mile marker 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a Bypass and Kuamo‘o Road on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for guardrail installation and surveying.

WAILUA (NIGHT WORK)

Nightly two-lane closures of Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) in either direction between mile markers 5.9 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Kapa‘a Bypass and Kuamo‘o Road on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 24 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the Kuhio Highway Short-Term Improvements. Traffic will alternate in both directions through one open lane.

KĪLAUEA

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 56) possible in either direction between mile markers 21 to 25, in the vicinity of Waiakalua Street and the Kalihiwai River, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

PRINCEVILLE TO HA‘ENA

Right lane closure on Kūhiō Highway (Route 560) possible in either direction between mile markers 1 to 9, in the vicinity of Ohiki Road and Ha‘ena Beach Park, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for grass cutting.

— WAIMEA CANYON DRIVE (ROUTE 550) —

WAIMEA

Single right lane closure on Waimea Canyon Drive (Route 550) in either direction between mile markers 10 to 14, in the vicinity of Papa‘alai Road and Makaha Ridge Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through Friday, Feb. 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for tree trimming.

— KUAMO‘O ROAD (ROUTE 580) —

WAILUA (NIGHT WORK)

Single right lane closure on Kuamo‘o Road (Route 580) in the westbound direction between mile marker 0 to 0.6, in the vicinity of Wailua Road, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 through the morning of Friday, Feb. 24 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving.
