Mālama Kaua‘i to host food access planning meetings in January

Kaua‘i’s first and longest running community-based organization focused on increasing local food production is asking the island’s residents to provide input on increasing food access.

Nonprofit agency Mālama Kaua‘i is hosting four community meetings in January 2023 focused on how to increase local food access and create sustainable food systems on Kaua‘i. Community feedback will factor into the draft Kaua‘i Food Access Plan’s objectives to improve islandwide food access by 2030.

Meetings are scheduled for 4-6 p.m. Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 at various locations around the island. The first 50 registered participants at each meeting will receive a free farm-to-table dinner.

Founded in 2006, Mālama Kaua‘i is building the island’s first food hub facility in Moloaʻa and operates a variety of programs to connect the community with local food.
