Rep. Kahele, who is Native Hawaiian, talked with Rep. Davids, who is one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress, and Rep. Peltola, who is Yup’ik, an indigenous people from western and southwestern Alaska.

Kahele is nearing the end of his congressional term. He did not seek reelection in order to run for governor of Hawai’i, but lost to Josh Green in the primary.
