The high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i has been canceled.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Ni‘ihau and Kaua‘i.

The advisory is now in effect until 6 p.m. today.

North-facing shores are expected to see surf heights of 14 to 18 feet. West-facing shore surf heights are forecast to be 8 to 12 feet.

Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous. Heed all advice from ocean safety officials — when in doubt, don’t go out.
