Collection Dates Scheduled for Household Hazardous Waste
Residentially-generated household hazardous waste will be accepted by the county free of charge on June 27-28.
According to Kaua‘i County officials, among items that will be accepted are automotive products, lead-acid batteries, lawn and garden products, oil-based paints, thinners and stains, fluorescent lights, batteries and more. No commercial- or farm-generated material will be collected.
Latex paint will not be accepted, as it is not considered hazardous waste.
The collection will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the following locations:
- ·Anaina Hou Community Park (Kīlauea Mini-Golf), 5-2723 Kūhiō Highway, on June 27.
- ·Kapa‘a baseyard, 4900 Kahau Road, on June 27.
- ·Hanapēpē refuse transfer station, 4380 Lēlē Road, on June 28.
- ·Kaua‘i Resource Center, 3460 Ahukini Road, June 28.

Kaua‘i County’s contractor will be observing social distancing practices, including removing all material from vehicles so no one needs do exit their cars. However, residents are still asked to a wear a mask when checking in with collection personnel.
“We expect high volumes of material to be generated at this event so we please ask for your patience as lines may be unusually large for service due to the home cleaning residents have done during the COVID-19 shut downs,” officials stated.
