County Offers Swim Lessons For Adults, Aquatic Lessons For Preschoolers
Adults who want to learn how to swim and parents who want their preschool-aged keiki to get a head-start on learning about water safety can get the lessons they need in October and November thanks to the county Department of Parks and Recreation.
Adult swim classes and aquatic lessons for preschoolers will be conducted at the Waimea swimming pool. Registration for the adult lessons is Sept. 17 and 24, and parents can register their keiki Sept. 22 for the preschool classes.
Registration hours for both sets of classes is from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
The adult program is open to people 18 and older. The preschool aquatic lessons are open to keiki from 2-5 years old. Enrollment in the adult classes is limited to the first 20 people. The preschool aquatic lessons are limited to the first 10 to register.
The four-week adult course will teach participants basic aquatic skills and swimming techniques. The preschool aquatic class will introduce preschoolers to the aquatic environment and teach participants about water safety; parents are required to enter the pool and participate with their children.
There will be two sessions of each class.
The adult classes will be conducted on Wednesdays and Fridays from Oct. 5-28. Session 1 will be from 10-11 a.m., with session 2 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The preschool lessons are scheduled on Wednesdays and Fridays from Nov. 2-25. Session 1 will be from 10-10:30 a.m. and session 2 from 11-11:30 a.m.
