Office of Economic Development Accepting Innovation Grant Proposals

Applications are now being accepted for a grant program that supports innovation on Kaua‘i.

The county Office of Economic Development is requesting proposals for fiscal year 2022-23 Innovation Grants.

The grants support new programs or projects that advance innovation by identifying and solving local problems in the areas of small business, technology, transportation, agriculture, local manufacturing, creative industries, workforce development, circular economies and tourism. Eligible nonprofit organizations can apply for varying amounts up to $50,000 for projects in varying sectors that generate short-term and long-term economic growth and diversification on Kaua‘i.

Proposals must identify a known deficiency, problem or need within the Kaua‘i community and deploy an innovative community project that will be or has been successful in other contexts.

Applications are being accepted through the Amplifund Grants contract management system. To apply, visit the Kaua‘i Forward website. All applications must be submitted before 4:30 p.m. Aug. 31.

Applications are not being accepted through mail, email or fax. Proposals received after the deadline will not be considered.

Applicants will be notified of funding during the week of Oct. 15. The project funding period will be Nov. 1, 2022, through Oct. 31, 2023.

The Office of Economic Development will host an informational webinar at 10 a.m. Aug. 16. The webinar will provide an overview of the Innovation Grants and review the application process. A recording of the webinar will be available on the Kaua‘i Forward website by Aug. 18 for those who are unable to attend the live session.
