Lane Closures Scheduled for portions of Pa‘anau Road
Portions of a roadway in Kōloa will be closed beginning next week for construction work.
The county Department of Public Works and Pacific Concrete Cutting and Coring Inc. announced that portions of Pa‘anau Road will be closed from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays from June 6-30.
The short lane closures are necessary for improvements to pedestrian access to Kōloa Elementary School, including new sidewalks, crosswalks and ramps that comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act. Safe walking routes for summer students, parents and pedestrians will be provided.
There will be no work Friday, June 10, in observance of King Kamehameha Day. There also will be no road work during peak traffic times for school drop-off and pick-up.
Motorists should expect occasional brief delays, and as a reminder, the speed limit is 15 mph near Kōloa Elementary while school is in session.
This project is scheduled to be complete in October. Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
