The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for portions of Kaua‘i until 6 a.m. Thursday, May 5.
According to the NWS, surf is expected to build to heights of 12-16 feet along north-facing shores and 8-12 feet along west-facing shores.
“Expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous,” said the advisory message.
