Lane Closures Scheduled For Mailihuna, Kawaihau Roads
Construction and excavation work on two roadways will require periodic one-lane closures next week.
The county Department of Public Works and Grace Pacific LLC. announced in a news release that portions of Mailihuna Road and Kawaihau Road will be closed from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. March 21-24. In observance of Prince Kūhiō Day, there is no construction work scheduled March 25.
Additionally, the makai driveway to Kapaʻa High School’s Athletic Field could experience temporary closures.
The closures on Mailihuna and Kawaiah roads are necessary for sidewalk construction, grade wall construction and roadway excavation.
Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time when driving near the work area and follow all construction traffic controls. The county advised in the news release to exercise caution and drive slowly when commuting through the work area and along the detour route through Kolohala Road, which is narrow and near the homes of residents.
