Improvements being made to Kōloa Road will require the extended partial closure of portions of the roadway throughout March.

The county Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC. announced in a news release that multiple sections of the roadway are scheduled for lane closures from Monday, Feb. 28, through March 25.

The closures are scheduled from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.

The single-lane closures are necessary for drainage improvements.

Large trucks and trailers and eastbound motorists from the west side, Kalāheo or Lāwa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Kōloa and Po‘ipū.

Ōma‘o Road is a narrow residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of Ōma‘o Road. Through trucks are prohibited on Ōma‘o Road for the duration of this project.
