Portion of Ala Kalanikaumaka to Be Closed
Construction work on a roadway in Kōloa will cause a temporary road closure.
The county Department of Public Works and its contractor Maui Kupuno Builders announced in a news release that Ala Kalanikaumaka, from Lopaka Paipa Boulevard to Ala Kukuiula, will be closed weekdays from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Feb. 25-March 4, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary for road resurfacing work.
Signs and flaggers will be positioned along the closure to detour traffic around the work zone. During this time, no parking will be allowed in the work zones.
Motorists heading southbound from the Kōloa Roundabout will be detoured to Lopaka Paipa Boulevard and Po‘ipū Road. Residents and visitors accessing Kukuiula will be detoured around the closure to the Po‘ipū Roundabout and Ala Kukuiula.
Motorists wanting to travel northbound from the Po‘ipū Roundabout to Kōloa Road should take Po‘ipū Road or use alternate routes.
Motorists are encouraged to make appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary road closures, detours and adjusted traffic flow. Use alternate routes and allow for extra time to get to destinations.
