High Surf Warning Extended Until Monday Morning
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the high surf warning in effect for portions of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau.
The warning is now in effect through 6 a.m. Monday morning for north- and west-facing shores.
Surf heights ranging from 20-35 feet are forecast today, decreasing into the 20-30 feet range tonight and 20-25 feet by Monday.
The NWS says to expect ocean water occasionally sweeping across portions of beaches, very strong breaking waves and strong longshore and rip currents. Breaking waves also could occasionally impact harbors, making navigating the harbor channel dangerous.
Large, breaking surf, significant shorebreak and dangerous currents will make entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face significant injury or death.
