High Surf Advisory Extended Through the Evening
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended its high surf advisory through this evening for Kauaʻi and Niʻihau.
The advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. for north- and west-facing shores. According to NWS, surf up to 15 to 20 feet is expected today along exposed north-facing shorings, which will steadily decline tonight.
Surf up to 10 to 14 feet is expected along exposed west-facing shores, which is also expected to steadily decline.
Impacts continue to be moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
