Prescribed Burns Scheduled in Anahola
Prescribed burns will be taking place today, Oct. 27, in Anahola near the surf break commonly known as Crack 14 as part of ongoing fire mitigation efforts.
The burn will cover approximately 8.2 acres, according to the Kaua‘i Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau.
“The prescribed burns are part of the ongoing fire mitigation efforts to control brush fires in the Anahola area,” said KFD Fire Prevention Capt. Jeremie Makepa.
The prescribed burns have been approved by state officials and will be conducted when the weather allows. KFD prevention officials anticipate prescribed burns to also occur in November and December, with public notifications to follow.
The burn permit is good for one year and covers 400 acres of land.
