18 New COVID Cases Reported on Kaua‘i

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported 18 new cases on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

Today’s cases are all residents. Of the 18 new cases, three are children and 15 are adults. One of the cases is related to mainland travel. The remaining 17 cases are considered community-acquired. Twelve of the community-acquired infections are close contacts of a previously announced case or are tied to one of our active clusters. The remaining five community-acquired cases have no known source of infection.

Today’s cases bring the number of active cases to 114, with seven hospitalized, and 2,425 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 2,366 confirmed locally, eight probable, and 51 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
