Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works Wastewater Management Division notifies the public that residential sewer customers have until Dec. 31 to apply for a monthly $36 sewer credit in 2027.

Applications are now available online and in-person. They must be received online or postmarked by Dec. 31 to be eligible. Late applications will not be accepted.

The preferred way to apply is online, where customers can complete and submit the application.

Customers also can download a printable application or pick up a hard copy at the Wastewater Management Division office in Suite 295 of Līhuʻe Civic Center.

The credit totals $432 for the 2027 calendar year.

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Receive sewer service from Kauaʻi County.
  • Have a 2025 annual adjusted gross income of $50,000 or less.
  • Not receive sewer assistance payments from any other organization.
  • Claim the credit for only one residence.
  • Use the dwelling unit for which the credit is claimed as their principal residence.
  • Be current on all sewer utility payments, including payments under any sewer payment plan.

Applications were historically mailed to residential sewer customers, but damage to the county’s information technology systems because of the Sept. 9 Kāpule Building fire delayed this year’s mailing.

They will still be mailed; however, in the meantime, Wastewater Management Division is making them available now so customers can apply before the deadline.

Contact Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works Wastewater Management Division at 808-241-4216 or via email at pwww@kauai.gov for additional information or application assistance.
