Kauaʻi Ocean Safety Bureau officials are advising the public to avoid swimming and all other ocean activities at Keʻe and Hāʻena beaches today because of high surf and strong currents.

Officials said those planning to swim in the Hanalei Bay area should limit water activities to designated areas near the Hanalei Pavilion lifeguard tower or Hanalei Pier, where swimming is permitted.

Beachgoers are encouraged to check ocean conditions before entering the water and follow lifeguard instructions.

For current ocean conditions and safety information, the public can speak with a county lifeguard at any lifeguard station, call the Ocean Safety Bureau at 808-241-4984.
