Walmart stores across the Hawaiian chain will offer free health screenings, vision checks and access to preventive health resources at nine stores across the state on Saturday as seasonal respiratory virus illness rates increase.
The Wellness Event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 17 as part of a nationwide initiative taking place at nearly 4,600 Walmart pharmacies.
On Kauaʻi, the event will be held at the Līhuʻe Walmart. Other participating locations include five stores on Oʻahu, one on Maui and two on Hawaiʻi island.
Customers can receive free blood pressure and body mass index screenings regardless of insurance coverage. Affordable vaccinations also will be available, depending on location, including shots for influenza, COVID-19, pneumonia, shingles, human papillomavirus, tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis, and hepatitis A and B.
Flu vaccinations are available at no cost to people with most insurance plans, although restrictions may apply.
Walmart pharmacists also will be available for individual consultations about medications, recommended vaccinations, preventive care, weight management, and other health and wellness needs.
Free vision screenings will be offered at participating locations.
