Fourteen collegiate women’s golf teams from 11 states and Japan will compete in the 30th Rainbow Wahine Invitational Oct. 19 to 21 at the Ocean Course at Hōkūala on Kauaʻi.

Hosted by the University of Hawaiʻi, the three-day tournament will feature 54 holes, with 18 holes played each day on the par-72, 6,039-yard course that features the state’s longest continuous stretch of oceanfront holes.

The course was previously named one of the “World’s Most Beautiful Golf Courses” by MSN Travel.

The tournament originally was created as the Princeville Rainbow Wahine Fall Classic, with its storied history including UCLA capturing the team title five times. Sacramento State and Baylor —last year’s champion — following with three titles each.

This year’s tournament will support Kauaʻi residents recovering from Hurricane Lowell under the message “Kauaʻi is Open with Aloha.”

Donations from participating teams, alumni and fans will benefit keiki and families affected by the storm.

The UH lineup for the week includes Kaydence Kim, Jasmine Wong, Olivia Jang, Chloe Ku, and Kady Matsumoto. Sofina Firouzi and Sofia Mallari will also make the trip to compete as individuals.

Jang looks to help guide the Rainbow Wahine after leading the team with a tie for 19th place at the season-opening Ben Connell Ram Classic while Ku was UH’s top finisher at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate, tying for 38th place.

The field includes the University of Hawaiʻi, Brigham Young University, Kansas State University, San Diego State University, Washington State University, Tulane University, Long Beach State, Nevada, Sacramento State, Grand Canyon University, Eastern Michigan University, Appalachian State University, Prairie View A&M University and Osaka Gakuin University of Japan.

Play starts with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start on Monday and Tuesday, followed by a 9 a.m. start on Wednesday.

Live scoring will be available online throughout the tournament.
