Kauaʻi County Office of Economic Development encourages small businesses and nonprofit organizations impacted by Hurricane Lowell to apply for financial assistance through the Kauaʻi Hurricane Lowell Business Recovery Grant Program.

Hawaiʻi Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism funded $2 million which will be administered by Chamber of Commerce Hawaiʻi as onetime grants of $5,000 or $10,000 to eligible non-agricultural small businesses and nonprofits that experienced physical damage or economic losses caused directly by Hurricane Lowell.

Applications are open and will be reviewed and approved on a first-come, first-served basis until all available funding is exhausted.

“We know many of our small businesses and nonprofit organizations are still struggling with the impacts of Hurricane Lowell,” said Kauaʻi County Office of Economic Development Director Nalani Brun. “This funding is an important opportunity to help them recover and continue serving our community.”

Applicants are urged to apply quickly. Applications must be submitted online, where businesses and nonprofits also can find all grant eligibility requirements, details, application instructions and more.

Assistance is available in multiple languages.

Call 808-210-6839 or email to lowell@cochawaii.org for additional information or with any questions.

Hawaiʻi Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism will host a free workshop at 9 a.m. Oct. 29 at Kauaʻi War Memorial Exhibition Center to cover the grant program and other available business recovery resources.

Register for the workshop online.

Agricultural businesses and producers will be supported through a separate state recovery assistance program. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
