Hawai‘i Department of Transportation schedules full closure of Mauka Wailuā Bridge for next weekend

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies the public about a complete closure of Mauka Wailuā Bridge slated for next weekend.

The closure is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 11 and is necessary for paving.

Two-way traffic will be maintained using Mayor Bryan Baptiste Memorial Bridge (Plantation Bridge), with one lane in each direction.

The paving work is part of the Wailuā Bridge Repairs Project. The final stage of striping was delayed because of Hurricane Lowell. The project is expected to be completed in mid-October.

Variable message boards are posted along Kūhiō Highway to alert road users about the upcoming traffic change and road work.
