Are you or someone you know caring for a loved one with dementia? Then the next step is to become an “Empowered Caregiver”
Alzheimer’s Association-Hawaiʻi Chapter can help.

The nonprofit is offering a 3-part education series of caregiver training sessions beginning this upcoming week at Hale Hālāwai, located at 5-5299c Kūhiō Highway, in Hanalei.
Fall 2026 cohort sessions are designed to provide caregivers with information, support and practical tools to help them navigate the challenges of caring for someone with dementia.
Caregivers can register for “The Empowered Caregiver” session as well as other sessions in the series on an individual basis or complete the entire series, whichever best meets their needs.
Caring for someone with dementia brings a unique set of challenges and rewards. Come learn to navigate the responsibilities of middle and late stage caregiving.
Topics include:
- Building foundations of caregiving (Sept. 23 session).
- Responding to dementia-related behaviors (Sept. 30 session).
- Communicating effectively (Sept. 30 session).
- Supporting independence (Oct. 7 session ).
- Exploring care and support services (Oct. 14 session).
