Kauaʻi’s major radio station KONG Radio FM 93.5 returned to the air on Thursday, and is providing important information about Hurricane Lowell recovery as well as much needed entertainment.
On-air personality Ron Wiley said listeners can turn to KONG Radio FM 93.5 and FM 105.5 on the North Shore and West Side for updates about road closures, traffic shutdowns, food distribution, weather conditions, Kauaʻi County updates, power and water updates, how to get help and volunteer opportunities.
Listeners also can tune in for “popular music and a little bit of fun,” Wiley said.
The station also can be heard by streaming at KONGradio.com and on the smart phone app “KONG 93.5”.

“Now we all again have the opportunity of rebuilding and recovery of our lives together on Kaua’i,” Wiley said.
The radio station lost power during Hurricane Lowell and was operating on generator power until about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, when the generator at the transmitters failed.
As of 1:15 p.m. Thursday, four of the five radio stations owned by Pacific Media Group on Kauaʻi were on-air and could also be streamed through their websites. FM97 is not on air because of damage to that tower (different site to the other stations’ tower) but the streaming service is available online.
