High surf advisory in effect for south-facing shores of Hawaiian Islands

A high surf advisory is in effect for south-facing shores of all islands throughout the day Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, a moderate long-period south swell mixed with a short-period southwest swell from Lowell will produce advisory-level surf,

Large breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet are expected. The surf is expected to drop this evening, with the advisory slated to end at 6 p.m.

Impacts are anticipated to be moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.
