Kauaʻi County Department of Public Works and contractor Kennedy Jenks announce periodic one-lane closures beginning next week on several county roads in Kapaʻa, weather permitting.
Closures are scheduled for 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 8-11 and are part of a multi-week project to clean and inspect the sewer collection system. The entire project will continue through Oct. 15.

Impacted roads are Lehua Street, Inia Street, Kukui Street, Ulu Street and ʻŌhiʻa Road, as shown in the attached map. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times.
Crews will not begin work until 9 a.m. near Kapaʻa Middle School, after morning drop-off, to reduce impacts on families and students and will move away from the school as the day progresses to minimize delays during afternoon pick-up.
No work will take place on Olohena Road on Thursday, Sept. 10.
Motorists should make the appropriate arrangements to accommodate the necessary closures, use alternate routes and allow extra time to get to their destinations.
Flaggers will be positioned in the work zone to direct traffic. Drivers should exercise caution when traveling through the work zone and follow posted traffic control signs, cones and directions from flaggers.
