The Fifth Circuit Court on Kauaʻi is still accepting applications for independent grand jury counsel.

The original Oct. 1 deadline for the one-year appointments has been extended to Nov. 20.

Whenever a grand jury is impaneled, state law requires the appointment of an independent counsel to advise grand jury members.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Hawaiʻi. Public employees are not eligible.

The chief justice of the state Supreme Court will make final selections. Interested applicants should submit a resume by Nov. 20 to:

Chief Judge Michael K. Soong, 3970 Kaʻana Street, Suite 306, Līhuʻe, HI 96766
