Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency announces it reopened the application period for the fiscal year 2026-27 Grant-in-Aid program, starting Oct. 16.

New applicants are encouraged to apply.

Proposals must be received on or before 4:30 p.m. Oct. 30. This is a received-by deadline, not a postmark date.

Applications received after the deadline will not be considered and returned to the applicant.

Organizations that already submitted an application can submit an updated one if they choose. Previously submitted applications will remain in the applicant pool unless an updated application is submitted.

The program is intended to fund community emergency preparedness needs for which adequate federal or state funding cannot be secured.

Eligible applicants include private and nonprofit organizations. Funding is available through four opportunities in the following categories:

  • Establishing and administering new Community Emergency Response Teams, or CERT (two separate funding opportunities, up to $10,000 each).
  • Providing aerial support for damage assessment, search and rescue and public warning and notification (up to $10,000).
  • Supporting sheltering operations as part of Emergency Support Function 6 (ESF-6): Mass Care and Human Services (up to $50,000).

Applications also are available at the Kauaʻi Emergency Management Agency website under “Announcements.”

Applicants will be notified about funding decisions on or about Nov. 13. The project funding period runs from Nov. 20 through June 30, 2027.
